Seeking volunteers for 8th and 9th January 2022

We’re looking for Volunteer Heroes to join the #CransleyCrew on the 8th and 9th January 2022 to help us collect Christmas Trees for recycling.

Come and be a part of our Happy New Year Cransley Crew, collecting Christmas Trees for recycling so that they can be used in local beauty spots.

By helping us with this MAHOOSIVE community Christmas Tree Recycling project you’ll be helping to support and develop the essential End of Life care provided at Cransley Hospice.

We will be accepting donations for Christmas Trees registered for collection and recycling from households across Kettering, East Northants, Wellingborough and surrounding areas up to the 4th January, and we hope to raise a phenomenal £20,000 – but we need lots of help!  The more the merrier so we hope you’ll bring family, friends, neighbours and colleagues too!

As well as supporting Cransley Hospice Trust, 10% of donations from the registered trees will support other local charities.

To ensure nothing goes to waste, the chippings will be given to Fermyn Woods and Sywell Country Parks for their eco-friendly mulch, and some of the trees will go to the Boughton House Estate for their eco heating systems.

What’s involved?

As part of the Cransley Crew, you will be working in teams of two or three.

One person will need to be able to and happy to drive a van or tow a trailer.  (If you own one of these please do use your own.) If you do not own a van or trailer, we have a limited availability of discounted vans available with local rental companies which will allow someone in your team to hire one.

You will need to be fit and able to take part in lifting of trees and getting in and out of vans. If you are in a group of 3, you can have one person as a navigator who does not need to be involved in the lifting of trees (that is up to you).

When?

Collections will take place on 8th and 9th January 2022, starting at approximately 8 am (Yikes! That’s early for a weekend but don’t worry we’ll have the essential bacon rolls and hot drinks for you) and you’ll be finished by around 2 pm. Whether you can join us for one day or both, you must be available for the duration (8am – 2pm) and ready to have some FUN! You’ll be sure of a warm welcome!

The nitty-gritty

We want to make sure you have FUN and keep SAFE, so will provide a safety briefing prior to the event, and on the day you will receive the plan on how the day will work and your collection route. We will provide all safety and PPE equipment.

To sign up, download and complete this FORM and return it to fundraising@cransleyhospice.org.uk.  Or if you have any questions, please contact our fundraising team by calling 01536 452 423 or email fundraising@cransleyhospice.org.uk and one of the team will be very happy to help!
