Why volunteer

Volunteering can be extremely rewarding work and as a Charity, save us a considerable amount of money that can then be spent on supporting patients and families at a very difficult time in their lives.

At Cransley Hospice our wonderful team work at the main reception or assist with practical tasks on the ward. Our volunteer drivers provide transport to outpatient appointments in situations where no alternative means of transport is available. Qualified Complementary Therapy volunteers offer massage. aromatherapy and reflexology treatments to patients and carers. Our volunteers are quite simply vital to the everyday running of the hospice.

Christine, a volunteer receptionist says:

I enjoy meeting and helping visitors to the hospice. The volunteers are part of a very friendly team.

Volunteering at Cransley can be as varied as you want it to be and is very rewarding’ In addition, our fundraising volunteers not only help raise vital funds to support our services, they also carry out many roles such as working in the fundraising office or our shops, emptying collections boxes and marshalling at events.This saves our charity a significant amount of money thereby reducing our expenditure and allowing for more of our donated funds to be spent on our services.

Pam, a fundraising volunteer says;

I decided to join the Cransley Hospice Support Group as a fundraising volunteer immediately after the sad loss of my husband in 2001. This, I believed, was my way of giving something back, but in reality I still get more back than I give.
