The aim of the Volunteer Transport Scheme is to provide safe, reliable and comfortable transport for Hospice patients.
Volunteer drivers will communicate their availability to the Transport Co-ordinator and will normally be included on the rota for a maximum of 3 days during any week.
Volunteer Drivers will report to the Voluntary Services Manager or to the Transport Co-ordinator.
Volunteer Drivers’ duties include:
- Transporting patients from their homes to clinic appointments and return
- Assisting patients from their front door and into and out of the vehicle in accordance with current Manual Handling procedures
- Maintaining an accurate record of all journeys undertaken including number of miles driven
- Attending Manual Handling training and annual up-date sessions and other mandatory training as required
