True bravery from Cransley’s oldest ever skydiver!

At 76 years young, Dorothy Moran isn’t your typical skydiver, but that’s exactly what this inspirational lady has chosen to do for Cransley Hospice Trust on the 3rd of July 2021!

As Dorothy and her husband got older, they decided to challenge themselves to tick some of the more adventurous activities off their bucket lists. They went on all the scary rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, experienced being winched down Gaping Gill and tackled a Go Ape treetop adventure! Over the past few years, Dorothy’s husband’s health has sadly been in decline, so she decided that this year, she would set herself an even braver challenge – to do a skydive!

Another inspiration behind her jump is her beloved Bichon Frise, Buddy, who passed away last year. As we can all appreciate, pets truly are most treasured members of the family, and Dorothy wanted to do something in Buddy’s memory.

As Dorothy had been reading in the papers about Cransley Hospice and the urgent need for end-of-life services to continue serving the North Northamptonshire community, she decided that the charity was a very worthy cause for her to fundraise for. She told us that a hospice is something that “you never know when you might need” and she wanted to help contribute towards future patient care.

Cheering Dorothy on at her Skydive (with their feet firmly planted on solid ground) will be her husband, her daughter and son-in-law and her grandson. Her family have commented that she is braver than they are – and are all impressed with her fearlessness for this challenge!

If you’d like to support Dorothy – our oldest ever skydiver – she would be most appreciative of donations on her JustGiving page to give her the courage she needs to take that jump! www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Dorothy-Moran
