Paws for a Cause with the Hospice

Sooty the Cocker-poo is wagging his tail more than ever today, proudly showing off his bandana in supawt of Cransley Hospice Trust. The gorgeous 13 year old pup was keen to show his appreciation for the amazing care the team are giving to his dad Steve.
Steve was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just 3 months ago and is being cared for by the team at Cransley Hospice. Steve’s partner Zena said “Since Steve has been in here the care has been fantastic. It really is the best possible place. The staff have been amazing at looking after him and we feel so lucky that he has a place here now. It’s so reassuring to know that he is being well cared for and that he’s comfortable. We even get to bring Sooty in which he loves.”
The bond between a dog and an owner is unique and the joy they bring can be immeasurable. The hospice team go out of their way to make patients and their families as happy and comfortable as possible and encourage families to bring in their well behaved pets like Sooty.
This September Cransley Hospice Trust is hoping to set tails wagging by encouraging dog owners to take the lead and sign their pawsome pets up for Wag this Way, a sponsored dog walk to raise funds for Cransley Hospice Trust, to support and develop palliative care for other patients like Steve.
Louise Gurney Community Fundraising and Events Development Manger said “As a dog owner myself I know how important pets can be to a family and the difference they can make to cheer us up. We wanted to do something for the dogs that would set their tails wagging and there’s nothing they like more than a walk – so we’re encouraging owners to sign their dogs up and Wag this Way, and get friends and family to sponsor the dog to walk at least 25 miles during September. Once they’re signed up we’ll send them a special su-paw-ting Cransley dog bandana!”
