Shires and Spires 2024

  • 12th May 2024

Run the historic Shires and Spires route located in Naseby for Cransley Hospice Trust.

Shires and Spires is a  35 mile circular Ultra Marathon in the second garden of England running through beautiful scenery with a mixture of trails and roads. The route takes in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside and country houses, Holdenby,  Althorp (home of the Spencer family and final resting place of Princess Diana), and  Cottesbrooke.  At 35 miles it is ideal for first time Ultra Runners or those looking for a shorter challenge.

Offering four routes, each one offers a mixture of trails and roads:

Here is James Waling, he ran the full Marathon (clockwise) in 2022. He raised an incredible £450 for Cransley Hospice Trust.

“A family friend received care in Cransley Hospice. It was a difficult time, but the team at the Hospice were incredibly caring and helpful. “

For both the Marathon and Ultra Marathon, you will spot the country houses of Holdenby, Althorp and Cottesbrooke. These routes also offer a break from the usual road races for these distances and create a new challenge with the changing terrain.

All distances will start and finish at Naseby Village Hall, located close to the A14, M1 and M6 motorways.
