Community Supporters Get The Year Off To A Flying Start!

It’s been an incredible start to the year for our inspiring community supporters! Here’s a fabulous round-up of just a handful of the fantastic fundraisers that have been taking place in our community over the past few months.

March 2019

It all kicked off when our Community Fundraising Manager Mary met the fabulous Josie, Phoebe, Max, Finley and Harry who staged a Christmas Showcase for their family to raise money for Cransley Hospice. Each year, these talented youngsters put on a fantastic Christmas show and sell tickets and refreshments to their families in order to fundraise!

They told Mary:  “We love giving our money to you as our grandparents have died or been looked after (in the hospice).”

A special mention has to go to Finley, who (aged 10 years-old) donated a whopping £20 of this total from his own pocket money, what a star!

Next we were invited to speak to the ladies of the Rothwell Thursday Group who had kindly chosen Cransley Hospice as their Charity of the Year. They gave us a very warm welcome on a rather chilly evening and we enjoyed speaking to the group about the incredible compassionate care that is given at the Hospice and answering their questions about how we manage to raise money each year.

Their annual fashion show raised a fantastic £700 for Cransley Hospice and we are blown away by this support.

In February, Nicola Speed made us all very envious in the office when she sent us the pictures following her afternoon tea. She had an incredible array of cakes on offer for her guests to enjoy and they looked absolutely delicious.

The smiles on the faces of her friends shows that everyone had a wonderful time and these fantastic ladies managed to raise £278 in the process!

Carol and the team at The Old Works in Desborough presented us with a cheque for a magnificent £500 raised through holding raffles at their Sunday Night Quizzes. What a great effort from everyone involved!

We’re also very excited to hear that they are planning even more fundraising over the coming months!

And it didn’t stop there! We recently met with some students from the University of Northampton who decided to support Cransley Hospice through their Escape the Shed event. As part of their second-year studies for the Event Management course, the students created a World War Two inspired escape room!

Teaming up with their fellow performing arts students, they transported their guests back in time and raised a fantastic £227.97 for the Hospice.

Then earlier this month, we spoke with Sian at Ise Garden Centre who really put a spring in our step when she told us all about the Cransley Hospice Rose!

The stunning new rose is now on sale at the Garden Centre in Kettering for just £6.99 with an incredible £2.50 from every rose sold coming to us!  We are so grateful for their ongoing support and what a beautiful poignant way to commemorate someone special, whilst donating money to Cransley Hospice!

Finally, we were delighted to meet with a long-term supporter who – after reading about it costing over £4,000 each day to provide our full range of services – generously donated £3,200 to us, which when combined with Gift Aid, will pay for the running of the Hospice on his birthday!

We were blown away with the kindness of this incredible unexpected donation and hope he had a wonderful birthday!

So you see, it’s thanks to people like YOU that we have had such a fantastic start to the year and we look forward to seeing what the next few months bring!

If you’re thinking of holding your own fundraising event, we’d love to hear from you and offer you as much support as we can. Just get in touch with our Community Team by calling 01536 452423 or emailing info@cransleyhospice.org.uk – we’d be so happy to hear from you!
